New! Epassi's new QR code-based payment method

Epassi's new interface based on QR code payment enables integrating Epassi payments directly into the merchant's own point-of-sale system, as well as enabling Epassi payments at the merchant's self-service checkout.

Benefits:

• Enables Epassi payments at both self-service checkouts and traditional checkout points — the same interface works on both self-service and staffed checkouts, so the whole merchant location can be set up with a single integration. 
• Removes manual work steps from handling and accounting for Epassi payments — the interface transfers Epassi payments directly into the merchant location's point-of-sale system, so separate manual entries no longer need to be made. 
• Eliminates payment errors — the customer doesn't enter or activate the payment themselves; instead, the checkout reads the payment directly from the QR code. 
• Ensures the authenticity of the payment transaction — the checkout activates the payment by reading the customer's QR code itself, which removes manual handling and significantly reduces the risk of misuse. 
• Speeds up the checkout process — reading a QR code is faster than traditional manual payment entry, which shortens queues during busy periods. 
• Improves the customer experience — payment is handled quickly with a single QR code display and no extra steps, and the customer doesn't need to separately look up the merchant location in the app.
  
  

How do I get the new payment method set up? 

Setting up the new payment method always requires action from the service provider's point-of-sale system vendor, so the first step is to contact your own system vendor and ask for instructions. 

Epassi's new payment method is already supported by the following point-of-sale systems: 
- Restolution
 - Confirma
 - Winpos
 - TuloPOS
 - Yonoton
 - Solmiokassa
 - CGI

 If you use a different point-of-sale system, we recommend asking your vendor about the possibility of enabling the new feature.

How does the new payment method work at the checkout?
Once the QR code payment option has been activated for a merchant location, a customer's payment by QR code works as follows:

1. The customer selects the products they want at the checkout
2. The customer selects Epassi as the payment method
3. The customer opens the app and navigates to the correct merchant location's page
4. The customer taps the "Show code" button in the app
5. The customer aligns the QR code with the checkout's code reader
6. The checkout device confirms that the payment was successful

Can payments exceeding the benefit's value be made at a self-service checkout?
Yes! When paying by QR code, the user can use their Epassi OmaRaha balance the same way as when paying with Epassi's other payment methods.

Does Epassi charge for setting up the new feature? No, it doesn't.
